Background casting is frequently a search for a specific look with a specific prop, and the person who filled that box in is the person who gets the call.
Be reachable and answer fast. These bookings are often made the day before, sometimes the same morning, and the role goes to whoever replied first and can actually be there.
On the day: arrive when you are called, bring the wardrobe options you were asked for, stay where you are put, and do not approach the principals. Doing those four things reliably is the whole of a background reputation, and it is what gets you called again.
