Your Industry Contacts

I was recently inspired by a conversation I had with Lisa Gold of Act Outside the Box. If you know Lisa, then you probably have listened to some of her podcasts and if you have taken her seminars, at one point you were probably asked to stop what you were doing and to write down on a piece of paper the names of the people you know in the industry, names of people who can be a resource to you and your acting craft. I was shocked that people did not have these resources easily available off hand and needed some time to brainstorm and remember who they know, and then it hit me. I didn't have such a list either. The realization was instant! This tool had to be added to the IADB control panel.

Introducing Industry Contacts by IADB:

If you're a member of IADB, you now have access to the Industry Contacts platform which will allow you to make lists of people you know in the industry and keep it all in one single place. This will replace:

  1. Writing someone's information down on a napkin (which you then lose or accidentally throw away)
  2. Placing their business card in a card pile (which you go through only once a year, if that...)
  3. Entering their information in your Google contacts (where it gets lost in thousands of other non-industry related emails)
  4. Putting their info in your phone contacts (along with hundreds of other "Johns" and "Janes")
  5. Saving their website in your browser as a bookmark (that you forget all about)
  6. Sending yourself an email with their contact info (that later gets archived or deleted)

Well, that ENDS today.

You can now add your contacts in the control panel, and gain quick access to sending emails and dialing numbers. As an additional perk, we also developed a twitter feed, so that you can have a more focused information stream. Rather than looking through the stream obsessed with election results and what a Kardashian wore to a premiere, you can focus on what casting directors said about an upcoming audition, or you can see when your director announces a new shoot.

Industry Contacts by IADB

It's that simple. You can't go wrong with this and I know that each and every single one of you can benefit from having a quick and easy access to your industry contacts. In the added search feature we will also list contact information to some of our headshot photographers, acting schools and casting directors, so that you can utilize it as an additional resource.

What else does it do?

If someone contacts you directly through your website their temporary info will be listed on this page as well and you will be able to convert them into contacts with a single click. When you add someone's Twitter account, their Twitter image will appear making it easier to find the person you're looking for. If your contact's info is available via IADB or Gravatar, their respective image will also be automatically added.

But wait, there's more!

And yes, I do feel like a salesman on an infomercial after writing this. This amazing tool will also allow you to share someone's contact info! So imagine that your agent asked you if you have a certain CDs contact info, or maybe you want to send your agent's info to someone you've just met and added to your Industry Contacts. It's as simple as locating the profile you want to share, clicking the share icon and selecting another contact you want to share this info with. How cool is this, you ask? It's pretty damn cool!
