Hello there, I'm interested in working as a voice actor. Naturally, I'm wondering if there's a niche in the market I can specialize and excell in. I figured this would be providing a voice for monsters, zombies, dragons, demons and stuff like that. I'm a metal singer and I can make all kinds of crazy and scary sounds w…

Hello, I was prepping a song for my first musical audition (yay!), when I realized I may be too much of an non MT actor to really understand how everything is supposed to be normal. They just burst into song? Ook. Yet.. They're so much fun to do. If you can suspend belief, it will be so much fun to perform, despite all…

Hello, Last Thursday, through a casting agency, I was invited with a host of other paid extras (around 30-40 people total) to be in the background of a popular Netflix series being filmed in my city. While on the set, I was selected to play in an important scene with a high profile actor, and another actor who is not a…

I’m currently a teen right now (15) and after having an amazing experience as a movie extra, it’s made me want to become an actual principal actor myself. I’m sort of confused on how to begin my journey as an actor. I know i already know about headshots so i’m good in that part. I know i’m gonna need an agent but i’ve…

I have an audition for the LA Haunted Hayride attraction next week to be a scare actor, and I'm curious if anyone here have gone to these auditions before OR were part of the LA Haunted Hayride? I have no idea what to expect both at the auditions and/or working for LA Haunted Hayrides as a scare actor. People who have…

Similar to a writers block. When you guys study a scene and understand it, and get it, but empathizing with it is a challenge, how do you work that? I feel like I’m pushing a wall to no avail.

I'm a student filmmaker and working AC based in Los Angeles who is at the point where I'm gonna start reaching outside of my social circles to find (unpaid, non-union) talent. I'm not interested in wasting anyone's time so I have a few questions for you guys regarding casting calls: - what are some things you consider…

because i can't stand 99% of the people i meet in this industry. they vomit their ego at me for an hour and i leave the meeting questioning why I'm even doing this. i dont care that you know somebody that knows the president. that doesn't impress me. the agents I have are soulless business people, the actors I meet are…

Hi guys! I want you all to know that actor Aaron Marcus, a full-time actor, (he is also a producer and an author) for over 30 years, is now teaching people how to get into the industry. There is a free webinar of him that you can watch and many other links you can click on for more and more info on acting. He will even…

I know there are a lot of factors such as how much time they'd have to learn, etc., and some may object to a "convincing cry" as the metric, but I'm just curious to hear your estimates based on what you've seen in your acting classes. I ask because it seems like an incredible ability to invoke that kind of emotion with…

i fucking hate serving so much. it's grueling and mentally and physcially exhausting, and i've been doing it for too long. but the cost of living in LA has gotten so high, bedrooms are fucking 900$ and then car and insurance and classes on top of that... honestly the lifestyle is just a fucking nightmare to me, a total…

So as the title alludes to, I went to an audition for an indie feature film which was posted on an online casting website similar to backstage etc. Anyway, it was for five female leads so there were 40 females auditioning through the day in groups. I was in the first group and after we finished up, the director/produce…

I run a podcast with several voice actors and they are all improving each session, but I'm not sure how to give them good feedback on their performances. Is this sub willing to do critiques? I don't mean to sound scuzzy to drop a link with our stuff, but I'm not sure what other way to do it aside from having you listen…

I’ve always been amazed by actors who are able to pick up a script/sides and cold read a scene for the first time. These actors don’t make any preconceived choices, have done any research on characters, or even think about what they’re saying, but the spontaneity they bring to these scenes (in my opinion) makes their w…

I get some really bad vibes from wendy if I'm being honest. I have a feeling she talks a good talk (you NEED the HWC) but its about money. As the title says, how exactly does casting work? From posting the breakdown through finally casting that perfect actor. What about if it’…

I (M, 24) have had long-ish hair since moving out to LA less than a year ago but I want to try out getting it cut short. As the title says, I wrote a short story and am interested in having it recorded as a performance! It is not overtly sexual and panders to a pretty niche kink, so while not everyone is going to be up for it, some may even find it entertaining.
