Hello fellow actors! I am a highschooler on my school’s speech team. My event is Dramatic Interpretation. I never win competitions and I want to know how to improve my acting. Does anyone have any surefire tips for dramatic acting?

Hey! I’m writing a 10 minute short and I’m thinking of submitting for SAG status. For obvious reasons, I’m having some cast members perform remotely on Zoom. I know that in order to work with SAG talent you need to have a union-approved payroll company. For timesheets that need an actor’s signature, would it be a good…

EDIT TO ADD CONTEXT: I often hear about how some actors negotiate contracts and I was just wanting to know how you would do it properly and without jeopardizing your relationship with the company you're auditioning for.

Hi everyone. I’ve been interested in acting for a decade now. I’m just wondering if my height (just over 5’1, 18F) is too short to become a serious actor. Thank you in advance

Hi, sorry to bother. I have a honesly dumb homework to do for uni, asking a few simple question to a professional actor, as it's my goal job. These are really simple question like "how it is to be an actor" and I don't want to ask any of the professional I know, as I find this really non-professional. If anyone don't m…

Hey acting Reddit, this is my first ever post on Reddit as a whole because I genuinely don't know where else to go for advice with this time-sensitive situation, so please be nice to me. If I'm not supposed to post here, or this isn't the right place or something, forgive me

Just wanted to share this with someone. It's a boutique agency, they have a good amount of actors that are just starting out (like me), but they also have a bunch of actors with multiple credits, including guest stars and the like. It's hard to say where the industry will be next year, but I'm hoping this will get me o…

Hey y’all, an actor from NY here. I’m getting the sense productions are ramping up and I always see or hear the whole “don’t wait for your agent” or “you do the 90% of the work” or anything similar. So I managed to find a pilot that is in “Pre-Production” on IMDb Pro without a cast and I also found audition sides on sh…

Looking into details of acting/comedy in LA. How often do you get called in to audition (from things like Backstage/Actors Access)? Also, what jobs do you have to make ends meet? Looking into going back to hosting/winery tasting room/barista to possibly have more flexibility. Does anyone make a normal 'day/office job'…

Ok, if you saw my first post, it was how I got my first gig in Amazon Studios The Romanoffs. It was as background or extra. It was pretty cool since I got to go on a cruise for the first time in my life. I was absorbing everything like a sponge. The production booked the entire 13th floor of the MSC Divina. Call times…

Caught this fascinating online seminar posted by SAF-AFTRA today (Nov. 5, 2020). What great information! Here were some of my big takeaways:"Auditioning is never about getting the job"."Auditioning is just acting under less than ideal circumstances, and self-taping is less than ideal."Act to a post-is to maintain your…

Almost 4 years ago, my journey as an actor began. Back then I was a struggling real estate agent, father and husband, caught in an economy that was shrinking. I soon found out that after a certain age, it does not matter what your resume says, nobody calls you back for an interview. A friend suggested 2 website for bac…

Forgive me for asking this because I know it's been asked a million times. Often they also aren't actor specific - and more just "someone moving to Los Angeles" specific. Let me tell…

Hey peoples, So, I just got a part in a sort-of passion project. Anyway, I have to play a 7 year old boy. How would I go about doing that? Because, I have tried multiple voices, and none of them sound right. (If it helps, I am a 16 year old female.) Thanks! EDIT: As a lot of you have…
