Removing the background from a photo
This cuts the subject out of an image and leaves the background transparent. It is meant for a logo, a prop, or a figure you want to place over a colored panel, and it is very good at hair and very bad at glass, smoke and motion blur. It does not replace a retoucher and it should not be pointed at a headshot: a cut-out face on a flat color reads as a cut-out, and the original is what a casting director wants anyway.
