STARmeter is IMDb's own popularity ranking, and a lower number is better. We show the current one and how it has moved. The Boost button puts your profile into the rotation we show across our network, which sends real people to your IMDb page, which is what moves the rank. It is not instant and it is not a guarantee. Nothing you do here changes anything on IMDb directly; we cannot edit your IMDb page and neither can anybody except IMDb.
